Talal Abu Dan is an artist and sculptor, was arrested on 30/01/2008 on the background of his participation in the meeting of Damascus Declaration National Council on 01/12/2007 which was attended by 163 activists, whose stated goal is to build internal support for peaceful democratic change in Syria.

 Mr. Abu Dan's studio was a target for vandalism on 21/01/2008, when all of its works of art: statues, paintings and artifacts were destroyed and nothing of them was stolen which proves the deliberate intention of  sabotage.

 Mr. Talal Abu Dan was born in Aleppo, 1953, married, and has 3 children. He was previously imprisoned for 10 years for being a member of the Syrian Communist Party – Political Office, " People's Party ".

On 29-10-2008 he was sentenced with other 11 prisoners of Damascus Declaration to two and half years in prison, on politically motivated charges.

"This is a trial of thoughts and concepts more than a trial of individuals. I don’t see that this court is trying me - rather it is trying every free mind in this country."

الفنان التشكيلي طلال أبو دان، عضو المجلس الوطني لإعلان دمشق، اعتقل ضمن الحملة الأمنية على قياديي إعلان دمشق للتغيير الوطني الديمقراطي، بتاريخ 30-1-2008.

درس الفن التشكيلي في ايطاليا و اختص بمادة " النحت " في جامعات فلورنسـا، أقام أول معرض له في صالة نصير شورى بدمشق أحيا فيه حضارة سوريا ثم توالت معارضه و مساهماته الفنية.

طلال أبو دان تولد حلب1953، أب لأسرة مكونة من ثلاثة أبناء، غيفار، يدرس الصيدلة في كندا، هيفاء في المرحلة الإعدادية وغيث في المرحلة الابتدائية.

له عشرات المعارض الفنية لا سيما في النحت بصالة " كلمات بحلب و صالة الميريديان و صالة تيسير قواف وصالة الخانجي إضافة لعشرات المشاركات الإقليمية و المحلية.

اعتقل ما بين عام 1981 – 1990 لمدة عشر سنوات على خلفية نشاطه العام في صفوف حزب الشعب الديمقراطي.

 تعرض مرسمه صباح الاثنين 21/1/2008 لاعتداء آثم استهدف تدمير محتوياته و تخريب لوحاته و تحطيم أعماله الفنية.

بتاريخ 29-10-2008 حكم عليه مع أحد عشر قياديا من معتقلي إعلان دمشق بالسجن سنتين ونصف بتهمة إضعاف الشعور القومي ووهن نفسية الأمة.
